#entregaEmCasa (#homeDelivery in Portuguese) is an online platform that lists businesses that deliver their goods so that you can stay safe at home.
When COVID-19 struck and Portugal went on lockdown, people where ordered not to leave home unless they really needed to. Soon we realised that if you wanted something delivered to you, specially from small businesses, local groceries or pharmacies, UBER EATS and GLOVO weren't cutting it or had high delivery fees. Most of these places either weren't listed or provided their own delivery, most of them for free. The problem was that they were, indeed, individually advertising their services, most of the time on their personal Facebook pages, but that info was all around the place and not reaching a broader audience.
#entregaEmCasa was a necessary effort developed overnight by small team of developers to gather all these local and medium sized businesses, from all over the country, in a single platform that was free for everyone to use. Everything was grouped by category, city or region so that it was quick and easy to find what's near the user or, in case of our older relatives, someone who was somewhere else and wanted something from near them but didn't know how to look it up. It was also made possible for anyone who knew, or owned, a place that provided a delivery service to be able to easily list it themselves, in order to help the database grow.
The day after the platform was published already more than 300 places were listed. And it keeps growing. Social media, celebrities, and influencers helped with advertising and encouraged people to use it as it was considered an essential public service that helped in these tough times.
Regarding the brand, a strong orange colour was chosen, and the logo was the hashtag itself to make it easier to share the platform's name.
